About White Crane Silat

White Crane Silat (Silat Bangau Putih) is the signature self-defense art of the Persatuan Gerak Badan (PGB; Unification of Body Movement) school in Bogor, Java, Indonesia.

A mix of classic northern Shaolin-style kung fu with Indonesian pencak silat, WCS is typified by low, wide, flowing movements, acrobatic jumps, rolls, and falls, and free-form sparring. The building blocks of the system are short movements incorporating a variety of strikes, blocks, kicks, and sweeps. Short movements are combined into choreographed long movements that train balance, timing, and grace. Long movements are classified into different systems associated with animals, plants, other natural phenomena, and legendary figures. Partner work includes sensitivity and spatial awareness exercises, self-defense applications, and sparring.
